Athene cunicularia
The Burrowing Owl is a small ground-dwelling owl. They are very vocal, and have a wide range of different calls. The main song of the male is a hollow “cu-cuhooh” which varies individually and according to the state of excitement of the bird. The female has a similar but slightly higher-pitched call.
